WFIS STRATEGIC PRIORITIES
2005 - 2008
1. Promote Private Independent Schools: Build public awareness that private schools are good for students, good for
families, good for Washington , and good for America.
Create specific talking points about Washington private education and distribute to all our constituencies and the media regularly and consistently.
Develop monthly data points for wide distribution to private school community regarding how private education is good for kids
Cultivate media and government relationships at state and local levels
Assess and improve the website to ensure that the public relations advocacy messages are upfront and available to parents, teachers and the public
Develop relationships with journalists that draw them to WFIS as the organization to ask about private education issues and education in general
2. Advocate on Key Issues: Advantageously impact the public and legislative debate , on issues that are critical to private
schools (e.g. choice, accountability, access to government support services, teacher and administrative recruitment.)
Continue to communicate WFIS' common position on school choice
Support CAPE 'S choice initiative with member consensus
Promote CAPE 's position statement on private school accountability
3. Build and strengthen WFIS: Influence the legislative and regulatory process at the state level on issues related to all private
schools.
Increase the number of member schools
Work with Constituency heads to increase school membership
Maintain a board of directors that is truly representative and inclusive of our state's private schools
Have all WFIS members be full and effective participants in private school advocacy campaigns
Look for opportunities to work with members to address state-level initiatives. Provide support when asked for and appropriate
Executive director will visit at least 30 different schools each year.
4. Expand and improve services to member schools.
Survey needs of member schools
Explore different benefits programs and packages to help schools decrease benefits costs
Develop sub-committee to contact unaffiliated schools
Evaluate and expand technology
5. Create new revenue streams to decrease dependence on dues.
Increase sponsorships of WFIS activities by 5 sponsors
Complete 501(c)3 change over
